Plogue Chipsynth MD is a 16-bit 4 operator FM Synthesizer plugin that brings back the sounds of the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis initially generated by the OPN2 (YM2612) chip

/free-chip-tune-vst.html. VOPM is an emulation of the Yamaha YM2151 (OPM) 4 operator FM sound chip, and it's a free vst. Does anyone know if it's possible to load opm files in a 64-bit plugin host? Getting all the instruments to load only works when using a 32-bit DAW (i use fruity loops). I tried VOPMex but it's the same problem, unless you use the 32-bit VST in a 32-bit DAW it will only load the first intrument:(. Genesis is very powerful, but you will still need support from some of the best Genesis plugins to make your site even better. Here we will give you some must-have quality Genesis extension and plugins. Top Genesis Plugins and Extensions 1. Genesis Extender Plugin. If you use Genesis, you must use Genesis Extender as well. This is a VST that uses code which emulates the sound chip found inside of the Sega Genesis/Megadrive systems. It's the closest you can get to the real thing currently without actually circuit bending a Genesis. If you don't know/care what a Genesis is, this VST is basically a 4 operator FM synth. mp3 audio demo by the official website. YM2612 Instrument Editor - Sega Genesis - Megadrive ROM If you want to save your created sounds or use them into YM2612 emulators synths or trackers (FMDrive VST, Deflemask, VGMM), you can use an emulator like Regen or Gens to dump the channel as a.tfi file which can be loaded into capable VST or Trackers.

In my childhood, I loved the Sega Mega Drive with games like Sonic The Hedgehog. At that time I did not know that internally an FM chip (YM2612) from Yamaha tinkers. The crazy thing for me: more and more developers try to emulate today this chip. I missed a lot of vintage synths but completely experienced this time and yes it was beautiful. I

In addition to the recently released emulation of Inphonics RYM2612, the well-known synthesizer manufacturer Plogue has now released its version with the Chipsynth MD.

OPN2 Based Engine

Chipsynth MD features a bit accurate OPN2 (YM2612) emulation like the RYM2612 from Inphonics. Plogue goes further and combines it with an SN76489-compatible square ware core (SPEG) and a special emulation of the very crunchy sample playback found in games. The synth offers not just one of this engine but six in total to make it polyphonic in every situation imaginable.

Further, it includes an intelligent layering system that lets you turn any OPN2 patch into a big ear-splitting 6-layer wall of sound. Sounds very promising. Plogue’s reverse-engineering team worked very hard to make sure that even the rarest corner-cases involving the special features of the OPN2 chip are emulated bit-perfectly, backed by large amounts of testing on special hardware rigs. On top, they added the DAC and impulse-response emulation to that with which you can experience a high level of realism. Important is also here: Chipsynth MD emulates all this without using samples.

This member of the chipsynth line is a feature-rich four operator FM synth that packs quite a punch! The Mega Drive™ – also known as Genesis™ – is a much-beloved console system that brought the bright and sparkly sound of FM to the masses. It resulted in the creation of numerous fast-paced and exciting soundtracks, and it still drives the creativity of composers to this day.

As we designed it, we couldn’t help ourselves but to jam-pack it with features that make it to the next level, with access to every component of the hardware no matter how obscure, and an intelligent layering system that lets you turn any OPN2 patch into a monstrous ear-splitting 6-layer wall of sound!

Plogue Chipsynth MD is available now for PC & Mac (VST/AU/AAX) in 64bit with NKS support. It cost 54€ including VAT. https://yellowspeed981.weebly.com/blog/download-stata-15-mac-free.

The following is copied from http://gendev.spritesmind.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1062
VST version:
http://www.wonthelp.info/GENNY_beta_2.zip
And the FL version:
http://www.wonthelp.info/GENNY_betaFL_2.zip

Interesting stuff:
-32 and 64 bit VST
-Will work on Mac
-Supports 16 midi channels controlling a YM2612 and an SN76489
-Imports TFI, TYI, VGI, and reads instruments from VGM/VGZ files
-Will also export VGI instruments
-Supports DAC sample playback
-Supports audio logging in VGM format
This is actually implemented now, I just need to clean it up and optimize a bit. Example:
Original song mixed with 10 instances of YM2612 VST:

Song partially ported and dumped using GENNY:
http://www.wonthelp.info/hardCorps.vgz
-Already has FL Studio native plugin support, allowing piano roll note bending and volume automation
I also wrote an envelope generator for the SN76489 support, here's a sample of what it sounds like: http://www.wonthelp.info/gennytest.mp3
and a sample of (early) SN76489 VGM dumping http://www.wonthelp.info/tester2.vgm
See above for a better example of what VGM dumping can do.

Thoughts.

This is a pretty great freeware Genesis FM emulation it's still a Beta version but I haven't really ran into any serious bugs with it, besides the Fl Studio version not working. I'm pretty sure the same guy who created this made the YM2612 vst which was pretty cool as well but this one is more fully featured. If imported TFI's are a good standard to judge by this synth is very comparable to AlyJamesLab's FMDrive vst, TFI files sounded about identical on each.
One thing this has over FMDrive & VOPM is a PSG synth feature which allows you to copy an FM envelope to a PSG channel which works really well layered with the original FM sound. This technique was common for alot of Genesis soundtracks.

Sega Genesis Vst Plugin

It comes with 112 presets and a pretty great built-in preset manager with the already mentioned ability to import TFI, their's also a feature to import drum sounds that I haven't really figured out or messed with much.

I'll be posting 4 banks of converted TFI files (478 patches) with general FM Instruments, & another bank of 77 patches from Sonic the Hedgehog 1 in the very near future.
